Skiing Destinations in India

..............Skiing Is Fun (Click on the image for more information)............
This being the season of snow, everybody wants to indulge in something that is related to snow before it melts away. Well there are is a lot of activities that one can do; throw snowballs at each other, make snowman, roll in snow, eat it. But some people like to believe that they have crossed the age where they could enjoy all this, me being one of them. For us all, there is one of the most exhilarating adventure sport in the cupboard, Skiing.

There are not many destinations in India where you could enjoy a good skiing stint. But the few that are there, are among the best in the world. Here are few of them

1 . Auli
Auli is probably the most liked skiing resort by both Indian and foreign tourists. It is situated in the Chamoli district in the state of Uttaranchal. Starting from the month of November till the end of February, Auli is nothing but a white silken sheet of snow and a paradise for skiing. This is the best time to visit Auli if you are interested in Skiing. The different types of slopes are perfect for beginners as well as professionals. Auli is also the venue for an international skiing competition that attracts skiers from all parts of the world.

2 . Gulmarg
The facilities provided in Gulmarg are among the best in the world. Gulmarg is the highest gondola lift served resort in the world. Gulmarg was also the destination for first winter games and since then it the games has increased in status and following. Once you are on the top, the view of the surroundings will leave you breathless. You also get to see Nanga Parbat from the top of Apherwat mountain. Heli skiing too is an option here. Personal advice : try it only if you are an expert and if you are an expert, don't miss it.

3 . Manali
Though not as famous as the earlier two, or as developed, Manali is fun for sure. Skiing places around Manali are Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Chanderkhani Pass and Rohtang Pass. You will find skiing possible in Rohtang Pass even during summers. Don't expect much facilities here

4 . Narkanda
Situated just 60 Km from Shimla, Narkanda is a good bet for skiing. It has one of the oldest skiing resort in India that still operates providing quality service to tourists.
