Highlights of Auto Expo 2010

TOP CARS OF AUTO EXPO 2010

Auto Expo 2010 will be yet another small car special. With five new small cars from three giants in the industry, the national capital is all set to witness a 'Battle of Glory' between various automobile manufacturers. With concepts from Honda, Toyota and Suzuki, Polo from Volkswagen, Micra from Nissan and Figo from Ford, all are eying for a piece of India’s small car market. From concept guise to production form, there is a lot at stake for more than one manufacturer. Take a look at what will make a buzz this year.

Mercedes SLS AMG Supercar

Luxury car makers Mercedes unveils its luxury SLS AMG Super Car on the opening day of 2010 Auto Expo at a price of Rs. 2 Crore.

Mercedes-Benz GL 350 CDI

The German car maker has launched the GL 350 CDI. The GL-Class is Mercedes-Benz's full-size SUV. Loaded with 4Matic all-time four-wheel drive, the GL has Mercedes-Benz's Blue Efficiency technology. Priced at Rs 64.9 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi, GL 350 CDI forms the golden feather in Auto Expo 2010 crown.

Mercedes-Benz S 500L

The flagship sedan from Mercedes-Benz in the form of S 500L is all set to drive fans crazy. The revamped S-Class boasts a host of technologies - in safety, comfort and dynamics - that makes it quite up-to-date. The S 500 L comes priced at Rs 95 lakh, ex-showroom, New Delhi. Powered by a 5.5-litre V8 petrol unit S 500 L develops 388 horsepower.

Toyota Etios

Toyota Kirloskar finally unveils its first small car for the Indian market in the 10th Auto Expo by the name of "Etios" concept. Toyota Etios will be available in both hatchback with 1.2 litre petrol engine and Sedan will have 1.5-litre petrol engine.

Toyota Prius

It had also announced plans to showcase its Toyota Prius hybrid car in the biennial event in the national capital and is looking for its launch in the domestic market.

Tata Indicruz

However, the company has not disclose the name of models but sources said that Tata Indicruz, Indica Vista Ignis, Tata Prima truck or Tata Penguin truck would be showcased at Delhi Auto Expo.

Suzuki Kizashi

Maruti is all set to launch first high end car in India - Suzuki Kizashi. The big little-car company takes another stab at a mid size sedan, and this one’s all theirs. Kizashi promises a sporty persona and available all-wheel drive.

Skoda Yeti

With an aggressive look but less bulky than the usual SUV, Yeti is equipped with long suspension and high ground clearance that offers comfortable ride. Skoda Yeti has dashing and elegant interiors, and the instrument panel is nicely placed on the dashboard.

Audi

Audi is using its growth trajectory in India to launch even more vehicles. With the A7 concept turning into reality, it promises to bring the production version into India by 2011, just weeks after its global launch.

The A7 is a four-door sports coupe and boasts of a low-roofline and powerful engines. The other big displays will include a vintage Horch, the Audi R8 and other Audi cars currently on sale in India.

Renault Twizy

Renault displayed its electric vehicle concept car "Twizy" on the opening day of Auto Expo 2010. Renault Twizy is a small two-seater car that is 2.3 metres long, 1.47 metres high and 1.13 metres wide and powered by a 20bhp, 70Nm electric motor that can travel 100km on a full charge at a maximum speed of 74kph and weighs around 420kg.
